The project “From Eye to The Bone” refers to the definition of eroticism according to Georges Bataille, according to which eroticism is- “ The movement of being within us”. This internal mobility with infinitely complex energy is one of the aspects of the internal life of man. As Bataille writes “He deceives us by constantly looking for the object of desire outside. But this object corresponds to an inner need.” Photography to a certain extent mediates the dynamics, concentrates it in the images, providing the desired information in exchange for a look.
Thanks to its predisposition to reflect beings, photography responds to our desires. The project is based on photographs found in erotic databases of websites that explore nudity while stimulating desires (as a model example of the object of desire). I made a lot of effort to force the camera to do what it was not normally adapted to, for example, making photos using only the lenses from images found on the internet (The action consisted of taking photos with a digital camera without a lens. The resulting noise and blurring are an effect of skilful masking with hands and lenses). In the world of bright and clear images a sudden flare, splitting and strangeness of the body takes place. Side effects of the lens cause peculiar transformations, distortions, curves and disturbance of space. It’s fascinating that photography can change so much (not so much to present the world as to hide it in blurring and smudging). I am fascinated with the distortion and beauty of the images obtained with the camera resulting in an opposite effect of realism. People usually accept that the world looks like photography. Photography is based on the operation of optics or the principles of geometry, while a pair of human eyes and the the brain see the world quite differently in accordance with the principles of psychology. There is something about it that deeply touches me; the belief that the true face of reality remains elusive.
